Staying ‘Plugged In’
Ephesians 1:17-23 tells us that God the Father raised the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ and made all things subject under his feet; giving him a name above every other name and making him the head of the church, which is his body.
1 Corinthians 12:12-14 tells us that we, as Spirit filled believers are one body, and verse 27 tells us that we are the body of Christ.
Ephesians 4:13-15 tells us that we, as Christ’s body, are to grow up into Christ, our head. This means that we will all have unity, one purpose in mind, and are all heading in one and the same direction as Christ, our head. This takes more than just being blood bought. It means that we are all ‘plugged in’ to the same source.
Verse 16 tells us that we are all “fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,”. This means that our unity is dependent on what we as individual members give, supply, minister, or contribute. We build unity, making Christ the head by giving Him the glory and praise in every situation. This is how we stay ‘plugged in’ to the Source.
We are held captive by sin. When we get in a situation where our old heart and carnal natures are exposed, if we fail to give God the glory and praise for our situation; if we blame someone or something, we have dethroned God and made that person or thing our head, and become ‘unplugged’ from the Source.
In verse 16 we read that every joint supplies “according to the effectual working in the measure of every part.” God has ordained a different measure that each of us is to supply. At times even the measure that God has for us as individuals changes. God sets the boundaries for each of us and determines the limits of what and how much we give. This disallows comparisons with one another and even within ourselves.
If we stay ‘plugged in’ to the Source by giving God the praise and glory, giving what we have, God will continually supply us with what we need.
