Blood and Fire
Hebrews 9:22 tells us that “almost all things are by the law purged with blood;”. In the Old Testament, when an acceptable sacrifice was offered, God sent supernatural fire from heaven and devoured the sacrifice. We can and should confess and repent of our sinful deeds – the fruit, but if we do not deal with the thoughts that produced them, these roots will produce more fruit, and the sinful deeds will recur.
The Lord has made provision for us to deal with the ‘underground’, subconscious roots of our sin through the ordinance of communion. God wants us to confess and repent of our sin voluntarily, and if we by faith partake of the blood of Jesus Christ through the cup of communion as well as through ‘communion’ by daily prayer and reading of God’s word, God will allow us to see the things of which he wants us to confess and repent. Then the supernatural, purifying properties of the blood of the Son and the glory fire of the Father will purge away our sins and the roots that cause them. (Romans 8:11) Bowing our knee and confessing will set us free.
In Matthew 6:13, Jesus teaches us to pray “Lead us not into temptation”. The Lord wants us to come to him and deal with sin voluntarily; to let the blood work and expose our sin so we can place it on the altar and let the fire purge us. If we refuse to let the blood and fire to burn and purge us, our Father creates an environment through various circumstances of life to act as an incentive to help us make the right choice.
God will send "divers temptations" ( James 1:2) to help us make the right choice to receive the blood.
The goodness of God leads us to repentance, and we can be in constant communion with our Lord by allowing the blood to redeem us.
